ISPMec

The International Symposium on Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry (ISPMeC) was created and is organized by the Graduate Program in Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry, from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In this fifth edition, ISPMeC will be co-organized in partnership with the Latin American Society of Medicinal Chemistry (ALAQMed). ISPMeC is a free event whose primary mission is to promote a forum in Brazil for the practice of interdisciplinarity between pharmacologists, medicinal chemists, professionals and students in related fields, who are interested in research and development activities in new drugs, creating a suitable environment for exchanging knowledge and international scientific collaborations.​ Don't miss the opportunity to participate in one of the largest events in the field of Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry!

LACMEC

The First Latin American Congress of Medicinal Chemistry (LACMeC) represents a historic milestone for the consolidation of Medicinal Chemistry in Latin America. Organized by the Latin American Association of Medicinal Chemistry (ALAQMed), this congress was conceived with the mission of strengthening scientific integration across the continent, bringing together researchers, students, pharmaceutical industry professionals, and specialists from diverse fields involved in the discovery and development of new medicines.

Medicinal Chemistry plays a central role in health innovation, connecting disciplines such as organic chemistry, pharmacology, molecular biology, molecular modeling, and artificial intelligence in the common goal of transforming molecules into therapies capable of addressing diseases that affect millions of people worldwide. In this context, the creation of LACMeC represents an unprecedented and highly significant initiative, establishing for the first time a Latin American forum dedicated specifically to Medicinal Chemistry, designed to highlight regional scientific contributions and promote collaboration among research groups throughout the continent.

The first edition of LACMeC, which will take place in the city of Rio de Janeiro from December 9 to 11, 2026, has been carefully planned to occur jointly with the International Symposium on Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry (ISPMeC), an established international event that brings together leading scientists from around the world. The integration of these two meetings creates a unique opportunity to foster dialogue between the Latin American scientific community and international researchers, expanding the exchange of ideas, the formation of collaborative networks, and the development of new scientific partnerships.

The innovative nature of this initiative — bringing together for the first time a Latin American congress dedicated to Medicinal Chemistry with an international symposium in the field — represents an important step toward increasing the visibility of the science produced in our continent and strengthening Latin America’s presence in the global landscape of drug discovery.

By gathering experts from different countries, generations, and areas of expertise, LACMeC aims to stimulate the development of a scientific community that is increasingly connected, collaborative, and capable of addressing the scientific and health challenges of our time.
