Biography: Dr. Hugo Cerecetto is a Uruguayan researcher in medicinal chemistry affiliated with the Universidad de la República (UdelaR), where he is part of the Medicinal Organic Chemistry research group at the Facultad de Ciencias. His work focuses on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of bioactive compounds, particularly targeting neglected tropical diseases such as Chagas disease. His research integrates organic synthesis, pharmacological evaluation, and computational approaches to identify and optimize small molecules with antiparasitic activity, including strategies based on drug repurposing and combination therapies
